Live Art Festival
Unleashing the imagination and fuelling struggles
Here, a breach opens up, from which the appearance of unruly alternative possibilities exults. The suffocation of narrowness is countered by the breaking down of barriers between the futuristic and the ancestral, the very real and the supernatural, and between the mythical and the mundane.
Dog-men, celestial trances and fabled plankton; the guttural cry is that of zombies who want to live, and the feast of monsters stands in opposition to true horror. Malicious conformity and normalised cruelty are opposed by the affirmation of the proudly strange, the delight of excess: we shower the bizarre with love, we tear apart cowardly injunctions, we strip away the hegemonic white culture and we eat pizza so that tomorrow our alien faces will be smeared with dripping delights.
For alongside social and political struggles, an equally decisive battle is being fought: that of the imagination. An intimate and collective struggle that nourishes our movements, revives our flesh and paves the way for victory. The 12 projects in the 20th edition, gathered by JJ Houle, Camille Huang, Sovann Rochon-Prom Tep and Claudel Doucet, offer us 12 sensitive vessels carrying us towards magnificent dreams where we can hope for ever greater light, solidarity and joy.
Because reclaiming the power of our imaginations is political, we want to share this pizza with you.
